earthlink question
Posted by joevan on February 4th, 2006

My friends had earthlink in the past. They wanted to keep the
connection to their email as some buisness stuff was on it.
Now they have verizon dsl but had kept a link for want of a better
word, with earthlink for 5 bucks or so a month more.
I helped them set up and it was not a bit of fun getting things to
work through them.
My question is can earthlink cause forte agent problems. I have had
trouble using it with free tera news even. I have even set up agent
forte on my brothers computer, and my father in laws and they use
AOhell. It worked with free tera news.
I remember earthlink causing some problem when using it on their
usenet groups. They wanted us to use outlook express, ugh.
I told my freinds a number of times to drop the earthlink garbage and
just use verizon but they insist so they will just not have the good
things. Anybody have any knowledge about earthlink doing such blocking
or whatever it is.
It seems some people have to complicate things. The small bit of email
that they get could be easily transferred. Maybe I am just trying to
do to much. Maybe just let them stew in their own juice, but they are
friends and I don't got many.

In article <shfau1960ut87b20ucjlk2hmnma1puu2m1@4ax.com>,
joevanudity@joevanudity.com says...
outside their domain, then you should have no problem using any usenet
client. If they don't, then no client will work.

The key is understanding how to connect and transmit usernames and
passwords if those are required.

OE isn't a great news reader, but it does work if you understand how to
use it. IMHO, there are better readers, including Free Agent and Xnews,
to name a couple. As you can see I use WinVN.
