- External DVD Recorder

I bought an external HP (Lightscribe) DVD recorder at christmas. Never
had a DVD writer before. It bosts DVD copy at 16X but it took 2 hours
to copy a half hour program. Backing up 3.2G of my computer takes 45
minutes. This does not seem right. I have seen an internal DVD writer
act the same. Does anyone know of a DVD internal / external that does
what it says on the box?

You could well be using it at 1.1 speed instead of USB 2.
Go into the Device Manager and see if you have an Enhanced
USB controller.
Altho` normally you`d be told you could run the device quicker.
