Some time back on a news show I think, I heard that you could get
information regarding ownership, last selling price etc. of property. If so
and if anyone knows where or how on the internet I would like to know,

Try ZILLOW.COM

It pulls public records. As with any public reccord, the accuracy is open to
debate, but it will give you a pretty good picture of values in a
neighborhood.

The best source is the Multiple Listing Service, but you must be a member of
the MLS to get into the data. Zillow is free, and it will give information
for the home you are interested in, and surrounding homes whether recently
sold or not.
