I have installed real player 8 and when opening the movie I want to capture, it
still insists on downloading new software. When I installed RP8, it detected
realone and uninstalled it, so I will assume the codecs as well.
The movie was a hqdvd rip from a newsgroup which was converted to an RM using
the Helix producer. Which is their version of movie maker.
Got any other ideas? This is totally ridiculus that I can't get a simple screen
capture.

I can't help you with your question; but I can give some advice.
Some posters check the newsgroup infrequently; often with a quick scan.
If want the advice of a particular poster; he'd probably be more
likely to see your question in response to yesterday's thread (I think
it's safe to say that *most* posters check replies, first) than by
beginning a new one.

Try to play the file again. When it asks to allow software to
download, check the box for more information/details and you'll
see specifically what you are being offered. Check & download
only the core changes (if any) that are necessary and the codec
you need. Updating the 8 player's data is not the same as
converting to newer version.
