When you re-installed Windows, did you also install the driver for your
video card?
If you need to do so, check on the manufacturers web site for updated
drivers.

you need to reinstall the drivers/software for your graphics card
just another reason to make sure you have all your discs/drivers available
before you re-install
question--
why do people format/reinstall etc rather than learn and solve the small
problem???
not meant as a dig--but why??

basically what ya gotta do is pop open your case and take a look at the card
... on the side where there's no metal thing hangin down... there should be a
little sticker .. not too small but just large enough to have all the
critical data about the card that you'll need .. like maker and model number
.... put the card back in and go to google ... hopefully you wrote down what
the little sticker said ... now pop all that info into google and add the
word drivers
probly the first few links will be what you're lookin for

Hello Alex,
May I suggest that you go to the link below, download and run this free
utility; "AIDA32 - Enterprise System Information"
The utility needs no installation and will only ever write to the directory
that it is run from (if asked to make report).
Said utility will give you a mass of information about your machine and will
most likely give a direct-link to the manufacture of your graphics-card or
motherboard so you can dowload the appropriate device-drive/s (graphics
driver).

PS your clock is set to the year 2020,
I suggest you correct said.
It is not impossible that your system will become confused by a wrong
date/time.

Your drivers need updating.
You are posting from the year 2020, and they are totally obsolete.

My thoughts on the lack of not being prepared comes from the fact that most
PCs come with a System Restore CD(s) and it takes care of everything. Then
folks start upgrading and don't have a clue that the OS they are installing
is not all inclusive. MS is doing a fair job at offering most drivers with
their OSs but some companies do not trust MS and will not sign on. Their
right to do so!
Allot of folks read or hear from friends how they did their PCs and think,
"Wow, that sounds easy enough!". I get allot of business from such folks
and usually the PC is in a total mess. I just wipe them and start over. It
could take days to get these straightened out!
Some high schools are teaching basic PC upgrades and repairs but most kids
don't pay close enough attention to be good at it anyway. This usually gets
me a fair amount of business as well. My son came home one day and asked me
what an LCD was and I explained it to him. He went back to school and told
his computer teacher what it meant. She told him it did not and let him
know she was the teacher here. I showed my son the written explanation on
numerous documents and on the web then told him to do the best he could with
the idiot teaching the class. I went to the school house and had a
discussion with the idiot and she was very bitter toward me but the son
finished the class with top scores and I never had to go back. My point is,
the instructors are sometimes not so qualified and the students are the ones
that pay the price.
My two cents worth!

Hi,
I've just re-installed windows and I can't get my graphics back to 16 or 32
bit. The highest it will go is 16 colours - I feel like I'm stuck back in
the old ages! It doesn't seem to be recognising my graphics card (only an
8mb AGP thing). I've tried searching for new hardware but it doesn't find
any.
Also the monitor appears as 'default monitor'.
Any ideas how I can get up to 16 bit graphics?
Any help appreciated.
Alex
