There was a radio contest out of Dublin that required people to call in and
name and use a word not in the Oxford English dictionary. The winner got a
cash prize. As the radio show got started the first caller rang in. "Yes
sir" said the announcer, "what's your word?" "Gwan", the man replied. Sure
enough, not in the OED. "Well sir, we may have a winner, can you use 'gwan'
in a sentence please?". "Aye," the man said "Gwan an f...yerself!".
Flabergasted, the radio announcer immediated called for a disqualification
for vulgarity. After a few minutes of profuse appology, the announcer
decided to resume the competition. A few minutes later, a contestand rang
in. "Sir, what word do you have for us today?" "Smee" the man said. Sure
enough, not in the OED. "Well, we may have out winner," the announcer said,
"can you use 'smee' in a sentence please?" "Aye," the man said, "smee again,
gwan an f... yerself!"
