Help with Adaptec 2100s Raid Controller.
Posted by Wizard on December 15th, 2005

I got this server to replace a bad raid 5 array drive (1 of 4). Once I
got another drive in there I lost the Motherboard Bios configuration.
Now no matter what I've tried the scsi card does not find any drives
when I try to configure it. I have replaced the cable and terminator. I
have installed another adaptec 2940 that sees the drives fine. I just
can't get the raid controller to see them. The Motherboard is a Tyan
Thunder with sysbios on board scsi (not used.)
It appears as if the 2100s is not installing it's Bios. Where to go
from
here?
Any help would be appreciated.

If another controller works that would suggest your RAID controller is
kaput.
It was not clear whether you can access the RAID controller bios when you
boot up the computer: it may be that the BIOS settings, or the BIOS itself,
for the RAID controller is not set correctly/corrupted.
However if you cannot access the controller BIOS, and it is not under
warranty, you are also probably SOL.
Adaptec has pretty good support--why not contact them instead of this
newsgroup?
