- Help!!!!!!!!can't find or delete trogan horse
- Posted by nadine on June 26th, 2004
Hello
My brother has Windows XP home edition
Also installed on his computer is Norton AntiVirus
and Ad-Aware
A trogan horse was downloaded...shellscript[1].js
He ran the Ad-Aware and there was 1 Registry value affected
I tried a search for the above file and can't find it.
Did a security scan and virus scan on the Symante Web Page
and it said that there were no trojans or viruses
The positive registry value was something about Hijack Browser
How do I find this file and detonate it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
The type of trogan is Trogan Downloader
Have a great weekend
Nadine

I guess it depends on which variant of that Trojan (with a "j") you have,
but it's entirely possible that AdAware has successfully removed it
already. Here's the Symantec info on one of the TrojanDownloaders:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com...ader.aphe.html
Removal instructions refer to deleting one registry value and then
deleting any associated files by running a virus scan, with Norton set to
"scan all files."
Maybe you've already solved your problem?
