- Help Please

I am having a problem getting into my fav chat room. When I type in the
address, the chat room appears. But, when I click to enter, an ad for auto
insurance appears. It will not let me delete it, and it is blocking me from
entering the chat. Could someone help me get rid of the auto ad? Or bypass
it somehow? Thank you in advance - Z
It is never too late to be what you think you might have been.

I am assuming you are talking about Messenger pop-ups.
You should install a firewall, since the messenger service
uses ports 137-139 (NETBIOS), which should be blocked by your
firewall.
To prevent the Messenger service from starting automatically,
open the Services panel by typing...
services.msc /s
....into the Start / Run box.
In the right-hand pane highlight 'Messenger'.
Right click and choose 'Properties'.
Click the 'Stop' button.
From the 'Startup Type' drop down, choose 'Disabled' or 'Manual'.
'Apply / Ok'.

And who was talking about MS Messenger? There's also the Messenger
Service - which uses ports 137 to 139 (and will run over NetBEUI with NO
TCP/IP installed).
THAT - is what is doing the Messenger pop ups on unblocked sytems.
