- How to change default location for downloads?
- Posted by GrandpaChuck on October 11th, 2006
I use Firefox first, Netscape second and Internet Explorer only if I
have to. Whenever I download any file it automatically goes to the
Desktop. On our other computer it goes to Documents/My Downloads. I
want to change the default on this computer so those too will go to
Documents/My Downloads instead of Desktop.
How do I change it?
I'm running WinXP Home on both machines.
I have examined the help files and have not found the answer.
Why is it the simplest things are usually the ones that are the most
difficult to find answers to? LOL

Americans killed in Iraq as of October 09, 2006 is 2751. United Kingdom = 119 Other = 118.
Over 100 Iraqi civilians are killed every day. Most by so-called insurgents.
More than 19,910 Americans wounded.
As of October 11, 2006 it has been 1257 days since Bush declared, "Mission Accomplished."

Dude, your questions are getting to be childish and boring.
As you are using Firefox, what is so difficult about reading the little box
in front of you?
You are asked what you want to do with the file. When you choose save, you
can also direct where FF is to save it.
I do it every day. I save the file directly to folder of my choice.
Ah I know. This is a test to see who comes up with the best answer right?

Now I will attempt to answer your questions in the body of your post.
First of all give me a little courtesy. When I was young we sat in
front of the radio and listened to our favorite programs.
Not a thing. There is nothing in the help file that tells how to
change it or I already would have. Do you think I don't know the
questions sound simple?
Not in my copy of Firefox version 1.5.0.7
Not in my copy of Firefox version 1.5.0.7
If I were, I would not have asked.
I'm happy for you. Did you not read the part where I said that I too
can do that in my desktop computer but for some weird reason not on
this laptop?
Show a little respect for your elders that were born quite awhile
before the home computer was even dreamed of. FYI, I was a boy when
the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. When they showed
pictures of ENIAC and then UNIVAC on the newsreels they took up a
huge room to do calculations that your hand held calculator does
today.

Now that lead me directly to it.
I had been trying to do it in Tools.Downloads.
I saw that and didn't bother to look at Options.
Thank you Pennywise.
I knew it was something real simple. I just didn't look far enough.

I certainly did not mean to be redundant.
I refuse to attribute it to a senior moment.
After all, as Johnny Carson once said, "Old age is fifteen years older
than you are right now."
With my wife working until 1:30 a.m. we don't go to bed until after
2:00 which sometimes leaves me a bit foggy headed and I may be
repetitive without intending to be.

I downloaded new messages from 24hoursupport.helpdesk on Wed, 11 Oct
2006 05:46:02 GMT, and GrandpaChuck <GrandpaChuck@B4ME.org> vomited
forth this bit of wisdom :
There are ways to set up Agent so that this won't happen.
Dig around in the Options General Preferences, Navigation & Menus.
