how do I disable WMP from loading a preview of a file in Explorer without
disabling Web Content on my Win2000. any and all help is greatly
appreciated

Uninstall shimgvw
Start | Run <type in> regsvr32 -u %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll
<enter>
It's a toggle, to reegister
Start | Run <type in> regsvr32 %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll <enter>
Should work...
