How to make the fan quiet?
Posted by waspenx@hotmail.com on December 11th, 2006

Hi, I have a laptop computer of two years old. It's getting noisy
recently. And the temperature often seems a little bit high. How to
make it quiet again?

Do you have the expertise to dismantle a laptop so you can blow the
dust OUT (rather than in) and then reassemble it?

Do NOT attempt to disassemble the laptop yourself. Take it to a
GOOD shop and pay whatever it will cost. Watch if possible, to
make sure nothing "funny" happens.

Take it to a computer shop and get it serviced.

Otherwise, download the manual and see what is involved in getting to
the CPU cooling fan. If simple, remove and clean. Fan might need to be
replaced - bearing/bush worn.
