I had cable internet installed yesterday. Next time I booted after
installer left, the process would get as far as the black screen. Then a
message came up that a file had been deleted, etc, click any key to
continue. I click and the message comes up again with a different file
listed as missing. All those files ended in vxd. This happens about 5
times then a small window comes up telling me a .dll fill is missing and
part or all of Microsoft Networking may not work, and a place to click
ok. I do that and windows starts. I haven't found anything that doesn't
work.
Can anyone tell me how to restore those files in their proper place?

But before you do, ring up your ISP and complain about the installers
arrant incompetence, and see how good the technical support they offer
is. Guarantee they'll be too busy sucking on Chuppa Chups to know what
to do.
