- I want to be a hacker/nerd b4 I die. Ghost issues (now and after I die)
- Posted by O.Phooey on July 3rd, 2003
I'll be 60 soon. I'm learning all sorts of new skills. Gaming (flight
sims)is less fun now than solving computer issues. I recently
reformatted my HD after frying something by briefly x'pmting with mild
OC'ing. I noticed my MB had a copy of ghost.exe (ghost 6.03,
read/write ghost.exe files). After looking in my epox manual and doing
a little searching of usenet I decided to try to use this app. Using
the 'write' ghost.exe, I am asked to choose the source drive by #. It
shows only one and seems to be my 4Gb C: partition (D:
12Gb,E:12Gb,F:12Gb,G: (cdburner), H
cdrom). It then asks for
destination and whatever I try it gives me an error saying that
desination dump is same as source. I tried to direct it to my burner
but that didn't work. i'm not good with manuals (been to Symantic
site). I guess I need a walker sooner than I expected. Can someone
walker me thru this. Now remember chil'un yer talking to an oldster (
ok I look like I'm in my 40's)....

("Whatever") I should have said, meant trying to store the image to
E:, F:, etc. Same error.

Ghost will ghost a drive to another drive. Not from one partition to
another on the same drive.

Not much point as if the disk is fubarred then you loose your backup
even if it's on another partition..
