IBM Thinkpad Doesn't boot at all
Posted by Jeff on July 2nd, 2004

I inherited an IBM thinkpad A30. The problem is that the machine does
not boot at all. Is there any magic that at least to get the machine to
boot?

Thanks in advance

Please don't expect us to diagnose a fault form the limited information you
have given.

Does it do nothing at all? Check battery.
Do the LEDs light up or even flash.?
Is windows installed???

The list of questions I can ask goes on and on.......

Please be more specific.

Thanks for the feedback. The thinkpad is running windows 2000
professional. I tried to remove the battery and plug in the power cord
only, the power indicator did not even light up. If I tried to start the
computer, all the power indicator would flush for a very short moment
and all dead. The screen has nothing showed up.

I just want some thinkpad expert tell me what's wrong and some basic
step of checking the problem...

Best Regards

Power supply is not turning on. You can check the battery, it's probably dead.
