I have the latest soundcard drivers for my creative soundcard and the latest
direct x 9.0c and have uninstalled realplayer and still get this annoying
error message when attempting to play inter actual player dvd media :
"Error PL4014: Playback failed due to an error with the audio subsystem.
Your currently installed audio driver may not be fully compatible with
DirectX. Please close any DirectSound applications that are using the sound
card. If the problem persists, you may need to upgrade or reinstall your
sound card driver. Click the "Help Online" button (bottom button on the
left) to find out more information. "
I have looked in the task manager for anything that might be using my
directx files but can not find anything.
Is the interactual software just a pos or am I missing something?

Might try
Start | Run <type in> dxdiag <enter>
and test the sound for possible problems (fixes)
