Was that the version supplied with W98SE? If so why not expand the files
/ setup off the installation media
Maybe it's some middle version after an update or patch, as
Win 2000 SP4 is IE 6.0.2800.1106 SP1
Win 2003 Server X64 SP1 is IE 6.0.3790.1830
About the only thing left is Win XP Pro SP2, which turns out to be
6.0.2900.2180
Try the browser archive, (left in anyway but it won't be there)
http://browsers.evolt.org/
So go figure, it's from Win XP with/out any of SP1 / SP2.

The latest (for W98SE in your case) version of IE would also be
available to you via Windows Update. IE 6.0.29 is part of Windows XP
Service Pack 2.

Hi
thank you for responding. So to be clear about this, I cannot install
IE 6.0.29 on my W98SE machine? Because it is part of W XP?

what the f*** you are talking about. I had to go back three posts to get all
the info relevant to this one.
If you want the latest updates for IE for your OS, go to Windows Update. It
will 1) check your version of OS, 2) check your version/update level of IE,
and 3) offer you any updates available. (That's what MS *WROTE* Windows
Update for...)

Because Microsoft says "FUCK YOU ASSHOLE! KISS OUR ASS AND BUY
XP!".
Err - Actually, it's because Microsoft doesn't give a shit about
you - and only wants to maximize THEIR income. So they will not offer IE 6
SP2 (which is what you're asking for) for anything BUT XP ...

I believe not. Your computer essentially fails to meet the "system
requirements" for that version of IE because you are not running the OS
it was designed for. If no newer version is offered to you via Windows
Update, your current IE version is as up to date as it can be. If you
feel that you are still lacking in the browser security category, you
may want to consider taking Firefox out for a spin:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ When you install it, it will
import all of your IE Favourites into its bookmarks. It will also offer
to become your primary browser if you like, but I'd recommend declining
for now and just using it as a secondary browser until you decide how
much you like it. That said, you arguably can never remove IE from your
system.

Thanking who for responding to what? You cut out all of the previous
post.
Any version of IE isn't worth all this hassle.
If you go to the link and read the overview, note the bit - "the latest
version of Internet Explorer for users not running Windows XP"
Does that sound like you are going to be able to run the XP version on
W98SE
