- inverted images
- Posted by Geoff Pearson on March 31st, 2006
A friend in Spain has asked me about the following problem:
"If I create a Word document on my laptop with images in it, burn it onto a
cd and then take it to another computer to print it something strange
happens.
On a machine running xp it prints the documents fine - but inverts some of
the images. Not all and not consistently in the same part of the page.
An image I used was fine on one document, but was inverted on another
document where I used it in a different place.
There could be a row of 5 little images and only 1 is inverted. It also does
it in MS Publisher 97".
Any ideas?

Your friend may need to download a Word Update:
"Certain images created in an Office 97 document and opened in
either Office 2000 or Office XP, display the images flipped and
inverted."

Fonts?
A colleague had trouble printing documents he had prepared at home
using the Garamond font. When we got him to alter the font the
problem vanished. The problem only appeared with his documents and
when being printed on the group laser printer. Never found out why it
happened.

Yes - thanks - this looks like the problem. After I posted, I googled (I
know I should have done that first) and got the same answer.
