I'm assuming Windows XP here.
1. Turn off System Restore. (My Computer, Properties, System Restore)
2. Use Spybot in its most recent version, which is 1.3. If you don't
have that, uninstall the old version and install the new.
3. Follow Spybot's recommendation to install SpywareBlaster.
4. Keep both program updated.
5. Do the usual other things - go into Internet options and delete
cookies, delete files. Also empty out c:\windows\prefetch.
6. Install anti-virus software on your PC if you haven't already.
7. Install a personal firewall on your PC.

Is this a message you got when you went to a webpage? Maybe a blue box
that said it detected spyware and knew your IP address and the browser
you were using?
