Does this change anything? When going back to create a new account as
suggested by Trout I first looked at the properties of news and in
Advanced I had at "Posting" ignore news sending format with HTML
checked. I then checked "Plain Text"

Damn; and you should see this thing refresh! Thanks Roger, and Trout,
and Blinky and Toolman and even Brian H (with a bunch of other garbage
after the "H"), and Mike E. and the Academy, and I know I've left
someone out but you know who you are.

Roger, you advised me to not change a thing. I won't. Below, gangle
*hatchetface* told me to change it from MIME to uuencode. Should I?

You're killing me Blinky. I never did go into accounts to check those
settings until tonite. Gimme a small break!

Perhaps not, but I think *somehow* you managed a post or two earlier
that was text.

Now, stop quoting back sigs. There should be a way for OE to
automatically snip them (if they're real, valid, properly-delineated
sigs, like mine) when you do a reply. If not, snip them yourself.

Well, it's been a long day, but just two more bits of advice:
One. Quote the text to which you're replying. Tools; Options; Send;
check "include messages in reply". Snip signatures manually (just delete
the part at the bottom after the two dashes (-- ), or use OE Quotefix.
Two. Stop feeding the trolls (no, I don't mean in this thread).
*Any* attention, good or bad, just encourages them to keep coming back
every time they see you post. You'll just end up getting yourself
killfiled. That is doing exactly what *they* want you to do.

Use a little restraint. Nobody cares what a troll has to say.

Well, I'll be ding dong. I'd never noticed that section before, and in
all the efforts to get the news into plaintext, I've never encountered
anyone who had that section checked. I presume it is there to allow one
to configure a particular newsserver to be different from the general
setting..

I learn something every day.

Toolman: I'm always nice. I was, at that juncture, very happy to have
it right. The above post was seconds after Roger had told me not to
change a thing. It was just a sort a happy post, not trying to hurt
anyone. I know what those symbols are but Brian had just finished
crapping on me so I didn't really even feel like giving him part of the
credit. Let this newbie give you some advice. Don't use killfile as a
threat or tool to change people. Just let me keep learning and I will
let you do the same. Again, thank you for all the help you have been in
this process of getting johnny o a little better acquainted w/Usenet.

Lurk and learn - similar to shut up and listen.
