There are other Winzip "like" programs out there, but why not help
support a great program and buy it? NicoMac has never charged an upgrade
fee and I have been a registered WinZip user since version 4.0.

Gotcha beat. I've had WinZip since version 1.0, and as you say, I've never
paid for an upgrade since. When I want to upgrade, I just download and
install. It recognizes that I paid. Neat program.

I think when they started out, a selling point for the "shareware" program
was that once you paid, you'd never pay again. I downloaded the proggie, and
they sent me a diskette with the registered copy on it. Used it every time
I've built a new computer.

very nice if I didn't.

Well, maybe Harrison is taking a lowly trip, at a later date. ;-)
All sorts of computer related stuff there and he can touch it.

Maybe he'll be sectioned off to the abacus room.

So now that everyone is on the morals bandwagon.

Sultan have you read the latest end user license agreement on winzip?

SCOPE OF LICENSE

Each Licensed Copy of WinZip may either be used by a single
person who uses the software personally on one or more computers,
or installed on a single workstation used nonsimultaneously by
multiple people, but not both. This is not a concurrent use
license.

Each Licensed Copy may be accessed through a network, provided
that you have purchased rights to use a Licensed Copy for each
workstation that will access WinZip through the network. For
instance, if 8 different workstations will access WinZip on the
network, you must purchase rights to use 8 Licensed Copies of
WinZip, regardless of whether the 8 workstations will access
WinZip at different times or concurrently.
http://www.winzip.com/license.htm

I'm sure you have read this though and adhered to the terms of the agreement
at all times though. <grin>

How many people here take the time to read the EULA when installing a
program?

Here's some light reading on Microsofts EULA

That was one smart rat.

You can download Kazaa again if you enjoy stuff like:

- Cydoor
- The GAIN (Gator)
- Altnet Topsearch
- Altnet Peer Points Manager
- My Search Toolbar
- Joltid P2P Networking
- Euniverse PerfectNav
- Euniverse WUpdater
- PopUps

Try Kazaa Lite. It's not free anymore, but it doesn't have all that crap.

Thieves don't care *until* they get caught and punished. Having said that...
Thieves are incorrigible.
Thieves are virtually always stupid.
Thieves line *their* pockets at *your* expense.
Thieves, very often, can easily afford what they steal.
Thieves are motivated by greed.
Thieves are *not* to be trusted.
Thieves are scum.
Thieves are parasites.
Thieves are profiteers.
Thieves usually think they are "invisible".
There is no such thing as "the worst kind of thief" -- a thief is a thief is a thief.
ALL thieves are criminals.

A thief often believes that everybody steals.
