Latest Browser download! query
Posted by gary on May 26th, 2004

Hi
When i try & access www.o2.com to use my email & sms, now it says i'm
using an old browser & i need to update it to the latest one. Internet
Explorer 6, service pack 1.

Is this very different to the one i'm currently using & is Outlook Express
the same.?
Does it just replace the old one or does it add on & eat up memory!
Also, when i go on Windows update page & it scans for necessary things i
need, it sas it will take 52 minutes to download, will this eat yp a lot of
memory, or just replace old with new!.
I am Running Windows 98
Thanks
Gary

Internet Explorer 6 has a larger footprint than IE5,
but OE is basically the same, with a few security
enhancements. It depends on your system, whether
it will be a burden, or not. It will replace your
current versions, so back up all of your data first.

Hi

I'd suggest Mozilla as a new browser. Spellchecker, popup stopper
and much more and smaller in size. No 'patches' needed monthly
either.

Hi & thanks
On this website "o2", it does say to download the
latest Windows Explorer, will the new replacement OE wipe out everything
that's already on it, eg, messages, files etc!.
Does it look the same & will it eat up more of my Hardrive mem!

You mean Internet Explorer not Windows Explorer, I believe.
Why not try Mozilla? It's smaller and has more features.
http://www.o2.com/ looks fine with Mozilla.

I doubt it will. But I don't use IE/OE.

I don't know. Hopefully an IE/OE user will be along shortly to
answer your questions.
