- lcd brightness problem

i got a second hand vaio PCG-F610. The hot keys for adjusting the brightness
work, but not enough. Still too brilliant, and the controls dont go beyond
certain point.
is there anything i can do?

Lean the top of the display towards you (or away from you?). LCDs are
backlit, so they aren't given the range of control you get on CRTs.

You can check the settings in the properties of the Video card.
Right click desktop, select properties, go to Settings tab, click advanced,
check if there is a Color tab. If not go through the tabs and see if there
is a setting to adjust brightness.

Commodore came out with a monitor (#1950) that used an interlace mode
for high resolution; It flickered so badly that a work around was to
wear sunglasses.
Post of the time were of folks suggesting the sunglasses to others as

for the OP, you may want to check the BIOS for LCD brightness settings.
battery power usually defaults to reduced brightness.
just set the BIOS defaults if you are unfamiliar with customizing it.
