Easiest way to try Linux is the Knoppix or Mandrake LiveCD downloadable at
http://linuxiso.org

The Linux distro will boot and run from the CD. I trust you know how to burn
an iso image.

They did have a period a couple of months ago when you could do a free
download. You might go to the web site and inquire if they plan another
free period in the near future.

I also just wanted to "try" it. Got the freedownload link
for the developers version. It REQUIRED you to put in
credit card information for the subscription to the click and run
warehouse. Not interested in trying it that much. Just
keep this in mind.
