Looking for recovery CD for Sony Vaio
Posted by JP on August 23rd, 2006

Can someone please help me.

I have a Sony Vaio PCG V505BXP (PCG-671L) laptop. I had to reformat the HD
and then did an non-OEM install of XP Pro SP2. When it came time to install
the drivers I was unable to locate the recovery CD. I was able to download
most of the drivers from the Sony Web site, but unable to find the
PowerPanel app.

I have spent the last 2 weeks searching the net and have found a few
versions of the program, none completely work on my model. I don't know what
the original version was.

I am hoping to find someone with a recovery driver CD for this model (or
similar PCG505) that could make me a copy of the CD or the few proprietary
programs that I need.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer. Let me see if anyone else posts with a PCG disk before
I waste your time.

I may have to use your home sig for something :-)

Are you looking at the model number on the BOTTOM of the case? The sticker
on the top isn't always the same. For instance, my laptop has PCG-FXA59 on
top, and PCG-9E4L on the bottom.

Try all the numbers you can find here:

Thanks for your reply. The number on the top is PCG V505BXP and the number
on the bottom is PCG-671L.
I am still hoping that I can copy someone's CD as $35+shipping for the
recovery CD is a lot (I probably only need the PowerPanel util anyway) Why
Sony cant post this file is beyond me as it probably wont work with any
other brand laptop.
