I was wondering:
does windows xp automatically make more use of its internal memory (instead
of using HDD) when more internal memory becomes available ?

Windows and memory is a great mystery.
If you have 2gbs of RAM, which is all 32 bit OSes can see, some gurus advise
deleting your swap file.
Microsoft advises having a swap file twice the size of your RAM.
Even if you add RAM when you watch the perfomance readouts in task manager
Windows still uses a massive amount of virtual memory although there is
plenty of physical RAM.
And if you have a dual core CPU, particularly Intel Core Duo, there is a
large chunk of memory on the CPU that is not even tracked but which is more
important for moment to moment CPU processing.
Is a mystery . . .

when I put in extra gbs, what are the tips and tricks to really take benefit
from ?
