I have a Compaq laptop which has W2000 on it. Almost every other time I turn
it on, the mouse pointer will act like it has been double clicked. If I
happen to move over an icon or a response box, I will get the program
opening up or a motion performed related to the response box. Is this a
physical problem or something related to the registry?

Have you tried another mouse? Have you reinstalled the
mouse drivers?

I have seen a defective pad mouse do this in some computers. To prove what
the fault is, try an external mouse. One that can use the same driver would
be best to try. But, somehow I am suspecting the mouse in the computer.

What model?

There are certain laptops such as the N600c with known mousepad problems.

Do you use a GSM card by any chance?
