Must reinstall windows error message

Must reinstall windows error message: Posted by Tufts on November 24th, 2003; Win 98se. On bootup get the message: "The msvcrt.dll file is linked to
missing export ntdll.dll rtigetnt version numbers. Error loading
explorer.exe. You must reinstall windows." Anyway to fix without
reinstalling? Thanks.

What happened prior to this error? Did you install/update
new software?
