- Need recommendation for a Wifi access point.

Neighbor lady (she does brownies right!!) just called and she wants me to
pick up a wifi AP for her to give to her family (I'm to install this on the
QT) as a Christmas present.
As I'm going to be responsible for supporting this install (did I mention
she's a great lady as well as great cook?) what should I recommend I get
that would best fit her needs.
Regards
NM

What does she already have in place? Is this for a single machine? What is
the present Internet connection situation? My mother is a great cook too but
I soon learned fast not to be going into some kind of support role with her,
other family members and friends when it comes to computers. It gets old
fast.
You can also try a wireless NG.

I'm far from qualified in this technology but in the land of the blind the
one eye man is king. As I do volunteer tech support for Hospice I'm in
touch with many of the local seniors and their families. I'm retired,
available, willing and work cheap.
She has several (three actually) machines all but one are desk top her isp
is the local cable company. She has one lap top she uses at various places
on and off the property. She has weekly meetings of her support groups (5-9
people each meeting, professionals all) who likewise use lap tops.
Right now we're leaning toward a WRT54G as this can be sourced to ~ $30
after rebates and discounts.

Since that product was recommended to you by several users in
alt.internet.wireless, I think that's a good choice. But take into
account Jeff's comment about the version number.
