Network problem
Posted by jez on July 4th, 2005

Hi, I have a 2 pc network connected to the internet via my Zoom ADSL X5
Modem. The main pc (XP Home) is connected via a USB cable. The second pc (98
SE) is connected to the modem via an ethernet cable. Until yesterday I could
conect to the internet from any of the 2 pc's with no hitches. Yesterday I
formatted the HDD on the second (98 SE) pc. Now when I try to access the
internet from this pc I get a "The page cannot be displayed" message. I have
reinstalled the Zoom software & even though I have two solid established
connection lights on the panel I keep getting the same message. I can
connect through my main pc no problem.

Best

What IP is the 98 machine getting when you entered IPconfig /all at the
Command prompt? Is it a similar IP (in the range) of the XP machine when
you do IPconfig /all on that machine or does the IP start with 169?
