I have Win 98 on my desk and Windows XP on my laptop. The wireless router
works fine. How do I connect the laptop to the printer connected to my
desktop computer?

Thanks

On the Windows 98 Desktop.

1. Open Control Panel - Networks and make sure that "File and Printer
Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is installed.
2. Click on the File and Printer Sharing button and make sure the
option to allow others access to printers is selected.
3. Click on the Identification tab and make note of the Computer Name
and Workgroup Name being used.
4. Open Control Panel - Printers, right-click on the icon for the
printer you want to share and select Sharing.

On the Windows XP Laptop

1. Open Control Panel - System - Computer Name and make sure that
Workgroup name is *identical* to that used on the Windows 98 machine
and that the Computer name is *different*
2. Open Control Panel - Printers and Faxes. Click on Add a Printer.
In the Add Printer Wizard choose the option for "Network printer, or
printer attached to another computer" and then "Browse for printer".
The printer on the Windows 98 Machine should be shown as an available
printer.

Good luck

If the printer's shared and it lives on another machine, an XP machine will

That's what I meant.

If a network printer shows up on your machine... just print to it. XP will
sort out the driver(s).
