Every 2 or 3 years there is another "Breaking News" story about
holographic memory. So far nothing has come out, and I would not
bet any money on it coming soon.

light source) holograms with his process; this was in the early to mid
1800s.
As far as i know, ther has been no attempt to reproduce the effect.
As a note, i believe it was a thickness hologram; each color would
create its own (layered from top to bottom) interference pattern, and
since multiple color would independently do that, the true spectral
content was captured.
Naturally, since this was a wet emulsion process, one would have to
keep the emulsion wet in order to preserve the original spectra.
So...
If this theory was known then, the "Breaking News" would be a story
about holographic memory.
Therfore, this recent news alluded to is slightly out of date...
