NG for beginners?
Posted by stella blue on May 10th, 2005

Much of the discussions in this ng are for more knowledgeable computer
users. Can someone recommend a NG for beginners?

I have MS 6 SP2 Thanks very much

This is an excellent NG for beginners.
Make sure you mention that you are a beginner in your posts.
Oh yeah, you must ignore the trolls.

Thanks, it just seems like you get blown away if you ask something simple,
or something that someone asked a week or 2 ago

I can take it but it pisses me off. For someone teaching themselves, it can
be tough-even knowing what language to use.

Anyway, I'll toughen up and ask when I need help. Thanks

Yes, I'm learning who I think the trolls are-i was accused of being one
several months ago because of the "stupid" questions I was asking

Actually this is not necessarily 'just for computers'.
Take note the word computer appears not in the title.
You can ask about *anything* or any subject.
Someone here will know. From how to grow roses to fixing your car.
Nothing is off topic.
A word of caution, wait for several responses before using/confirming the
advice. There are trolls lurking!

Oh, I didn't realize you could ask about anything! However, that could open
you up to even more idiocy--although I will say some of it's pretty
entertaining!

So learn to use Google before asking questions here. And develop a tough
skin. Some of us have been here for over 20 years and really hate what this
interface has become, thanks to AOL and Google Groups.

Well, I do at least know enough to do my own research w/google etc before
coming here. But still, have a little patience with the newbies-unless
they're totally out there!!
