Norton System Works - Cleanup crashes
Posted by Docspec on October 23rd, 2007

I have a dell Inspiron 531, AMD X2 5000+, 4 GB RAM, 300 HDD. OS:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Recently I downloaded Norton System Works BAsic and installed it. It
works fine, except Norton cleanup crashes when I run it alone, or it
just doens't stop scanning, when I run it as part of One Button
checkup.
Symantec support gave me 2 solutions

A) delete temp files, defrag and then run Norton Cleanup

That did nothing

B) Some component of Vista gets in the way of Norton celanup - do a
clean boot and run Norton Cleanup

That made actually sense, so I did a clean boot.
Problem: after the cleanboot, Norton System Works is not responding,
because it seems to need some Vista components, that are left out in
the cleanboot.

Before I start cleanbooting 200 times and re-adding one component
after another in a trial-and-error-process:
Does anybody have the same problem?
What component do I have to add back into cleanboot (in other words:
what component has to boot) so that Norton System Work starts and
Norton cleanup works.

Thanks
