My friend had big PC problem. I repartion and format a hard drive.
First, reconfigure its boot sequence: 1./ CD-ROM drive, 2./ floppy
disk, 3./ Hard drive with known good CD-ROM drive and Window XP or
2000. Then, I use setup boot disks of windows2000( 4 disks)to boot it
from floppy, it worked through while and generated error message "CD
or disk was damge". It seemed to me that the PC had not read the
CD-ROM. What is going on here? any tip - please help
Much appreciated.

I don't suppose you thought to clean the CD, or to
check the CD-ROM cables?

Why were you booting from a floppy? The XP install disk is bootable, you
should boot directly from it.
