- O.E. problem
- Posted by hillier on March 3rd, 2004
I am having trouble getting into OE .I get a message saying "authorising",
then a panel asking for my user name and password, but entering them doesn't
make any difference, and it just repeats. I have xp and have not had this
problem before, any ideas please.

It is most likely not a problem with your machine
It means that ntl are unable to accept your password/username to connect to
your e-mail account, you will I believe still be able to access news-groups
(as your doing)
Answer is to click cancel, keep away from your inbox (else you'll have to
cancel again), then try later when thiere mail-servers are back on-line.
Here is ntl's server status page where thiere are notifications of any
problems they are haveing.

In Outlook Express, click Tools/Accounts/Mail/
select your mail account properties
At the bottom under Outgoing Mail Server
click the My Server Requires Authentication
Click Settings, insure Use Same Setting As My Incomming Mail Server is
checked.
Click OK twice, then click Close.
Close OE , reopen OE and test.
