- An ongoing attempt on port 139!!!
- Posted by James Padolsey on September 1st, 2006
I have zone alarm pro installed as my firewall and it has been
repeatedly blocking netbios requests on port 139 from an IP address
which i know to be a computer on my network.
I cannot think of anything on that computer to be executing these
requests other than a virus. I have done a virus scan with norton and
nothing was found!

Port 139 is one of the ports used for Windows Networking. Windows
Computers are constantly attempting to discover each other on the
network. If you use Windows Networking to share files or printers on
your network, you probably should allow/ignore these packets.
