- partition table not valid
- Posted by Tsun Szu on August 3rd, 2004
My PC is a P3-866 with a 20gb hdd and running win98se. Somehow when I tried
to install a program, an error message says " The partition table on disk #1
is not valid. The program cannot be installed until the problem is
corrected."
I have not partitioned this disk at all. It only has a C: drive. However I
have 2 virtual drives called D and E using daemon. The funny thing is my
other 2 PCs with 20gb also have the same configuration as this one with 2
virtual drives D and E. So why is the partition table NOT VALID? I am still
wondering. I have run the latest AVG anti-virus and there are no viruses
found. Also I have used Adaware 6.0 to get rid of spywares and trojans even
before I started my installation of the software. Anyone can help me out on
this problem?
Thanks..

Just a shot in the dark here, but when something is referring to "disk#1",
it may very well be referring to one of your virtual drives, because the
primary harddrive is typically identified as "disk 0", and a secondary drive
as "disk 1". Try disabling your virtual drive letters during the program's
installation, and see if that helps.
