i need few ports opened but dont know how to access the cable modem settings

1) There is no port forwarding on a cable modem.
2) If the modem is a modem/router combination, then you can use the port
forwarding on the router part of the combination.
3) If you have a standalone router that's connected to a modem, then you can
use port forwarding on the router.
