- Printing Errors Out At End of Jobs - Help!
- Posted by Sens Fan Happy In Ohio on December 3rd, 2004
We have a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 1120C that's being used for some
pretty big files such as floor plans and 11x17 posters. But because
this printer has no message centre nor gives back to Windows any kind
of error message I have no idea what's happening.
When printing jobs onto 11x17 or 13x19 pages it will get to the last
1/4" of the printable area and lay down just a few lines of ink, but
never finish. The printer stops and the paper feed button begins to
blink. This means it's died at the end of the job, not finishing the
printing.
Windows says there's been a printing error, but gives no further
information like an error number or anything. And, like I said
before, there's no window on the printer that displays any messages or
error messages.
My guess is that there's a buffer overrun or memory shortage. Trouble
is that it also happens on small files printing on the large format
papers. When viewing the file (a colour separated page) it can be as
small as 43k or as large as 1MB or larger and still it bombs in the
same place ... with 1/4" or so left to print.
HP.com is no help as they offer no tech support for this printer. And
there's nothing on the Microsoft site that leads me to believe it's an
O/S or program error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this printer is the company's
workhorse for large format printings ... including my colour seps!
Thanks in advance!

Is the latest driver installed? Have you checked out HP's
troubleshooting tips for this printer?

<Sarge@the.old.folks.home.invalid> first attempted to communicate with pen,
but the writing was small, so next used sidewalk chalk, but the rain washed
it away, and then switched to spray paint and stencils but the cans
exploded, so placed fingers to keyboard for this:
Yes, and yes. There was no "latest" driver listed when I checked it
yesterday at work, but I know I got the latest one about 3 months back. As
for the troubleshooting, it was no help. Checked both the book we still
have and the downloadable PDF manual.
