Problem!!!
Posted by Sr. on June 25th, 2004

For the past couple of weeks or so, sometimes when I open a website up, it
won't close when I click on the "X". I have to "ctrl, alt, delete" to close
it up! What could be causing this?? Some will go on and close though-Could I
have a virus?? If so, how would one go about getting rid of it?? Thanks in
advance for any help.
Gary

Depending upon your security settings; a web page may be trying to
do any number of things in OE; from executing script, to connecting you
to a different site. *One* simple thing to do (aside from stricter
settings, and checks for malware) is to have a "Stop" button on your
toolbar.
Right-click a blank area on the toolbar, select 'Customize', and add
it. Clicking this should stop activity on the site and allow you to
close it.
Also, most firewalls will have a 'panic button'. There should be
something like 'Stop all Internet Activity' available with a right-click
of its icon in the system tray.
