- Problem burning dvd's

I have a Ricoh MP5240A DVD/CD R/RW.
I am using Nero burning software.
I can burn to a cd no problem but when I try to burn a compilation onto a
DVD it fails more or less straight away.
I am using Mirror Platinum DVD+R 4x media.
Help me please before I go mad.
