- Product ID location for winXP Home
- Posted by Tim Kettring on February 5th, 2004
A factory rep said that the product ID is not needed to re-install Win-XP
Home when I ordered the CD that should have came with the machine when I
bought it ( everything was pre-installed ) , but now I have good reason to
install it on a swapped in new Hard Drive when I buy one . ( and keep the
origional for spare ) backup OP system .
Is this true ?
Where is the location of the Product ID in win-XP Home ?
Thanks Much , Tim

No, it's not true. You'll need the product i.d. & it can't be
extracted from your pc. You'll need to contact whoever originally
installed winxp
