Greetings
I had the strangest this happen to my system. I first noticed when I
booted up that I had what appeared to be a startup group folder open
on my desktop. Further investigation showed that the actual start up
group (all users) had a folder called programs, which contained a
folder called starup. Sorta like this:
Programs
|
-->Startup
|
-->Programs
|
->Startup
I can't delete the redundent programs and startup groups, as the OS
(XP Pro) says they are system files, and refuses to delete them.
Then I started checking, and found when I right clicked on the
start-button and choose open (not open all users) it opened a folder
called "Document and Settings" on my "E" Drive instead of the file it
should have opened on my "D" Drive (I dual boot, XP is on my D drive).
The correct structure for the individual users were still intact on
the "D" drive, just not being accessed by the OS. I was able to
correct this problem by editing the registry.
I ran a complete Virus Check, as well as a search for Spyware, with
nothing being found.
This may have be unrealated, but after about 3 hours of use, I have no
space left on my boot drive (d"). I start getting errors to that
effect, and have to reboot. I am not running a swap or page file on
this drive, and am at a loss to where the space is going.
I will probably endup doing a reinstall, but I should would like to
know what is going on here, for future reference (and cuz it's driving
me up the friggin wal).
Any suggestions, would be appreciated.
