I have messages in red that I can scan in ng's and set it up in message
properties. I don't know how to reply to snippets of another's post, so
that I can respond just to a phrase and not have to have to repeat the whole
post?
How is it done with the >> signs before the text?
one other thing: How do I preface my messages with my name as an auto
feature before they're posted to the ng? i.e., *name of person* @ *email
address* has written ....blah blah blah?
I know it's a dumb question, but I can't find the properties in Outlook
express just the sigs which would be auto in ending posts. I lurk but I want
to know this. thanks.

.... and you can achieve that structure by skipping past the attribution
line/s, most importantly deleting any words or lines to which you aren't
directly replying, skipping one line under the lines you are going to
reply to, typing in your reply, and similarly deleting everything not
replied which follows, as the example in the link above demonstrates.

The > signs are caused by the configuration in OE / Tools/ Options/ Send
tab - News sending format check plaintext - plaintext settings button
settings - Indent the original text with - select > char

You are currently configured with the 'handle' Annette in OE/ Accounts -
news tab - your EL newsserver - Properties button - General tab - User
information section - Name section would say Annette.

You won't be able to use the autosig function of OE because it is
configured wrongly for newsgroup posting. It is designed for corporate
email functions.

The properties you are speaking of are in the newsgroup's Properties
button as above.
