Buy the thickest leads you can find, thin ones will melt and you'll be
fucked.

For my own part, I have never had a thought which I could not set down
in words with even more distinctness than that with which I conceived
it. There is, however, a class of fancies of exquisite delicacy which
are not thoughts, and to which as yet I have found it absolutely
impossible to adapt to language. These fancies arise in the soul, alas
how rarely. Only at epochs of most intense tranquillity, when the
bodily and mental health are in perfection. And at those weird points
of time, where the confines of the waking world blend with the world of
dreams. And so I captured this fancy, where all that we see, or seem,
is but a dream within a dream.

Okay - perhaps the Lord G of G used language *I* wouldn't have used, but
essentially that's correct <g>.

Wire gauge is directly proportional to the amount of resistance to current
flow. The bigger the wire (smaller gauge number) the more current can pass
through.

Another thing is length: those 6 or 8 foot ones suck if you have to pull up
beside someone, and batteries are on opposite sides. But remember: extra
length is more resistance, hence you need larger gauge wire.

And look at the clips - lightweight ones bend and springs get loose and they
end up not connecting well. Not good either. Spend a few extra dollars and
get really good ones, then take care of them, and you'll never need another
pair.

Really good clips have both sides of the clip joined by a heavy duty wire,
beats melting the spring that holds the clips to the battery post.

Makes good sense - since the jaws don't always get good connection to both
sides of the terminal!
