1. If you Ghost over to another system with a different chipset, you will
probably need to do a repair install of XP.
2. You may have better luck using the deployment tools on the XP cd
(Support\Tools\Deployment) to prep your system before trying to move and
installation.
3. I have heard of a method of installing that on the face of it seems like
it will work, but I have not tried it. Install XP Original or SP1. Install
the programs. Insert Windows XP SP2 slipstreamed CD, auto run will ask you
if you want to upgrade, click yes. Install will go through file copy and
plod along for a while before it tells you that it needs to reboot to finish
the install. As soon as you get a black screen, cut the power to the
computer. Boot off a Ghost floppy and image the system. Use this image to
restore drives. When the drives are installed in the new machines, they
should go immediately into install routine, prompt you for the xp cd, and
after about 30-40 minutes the new machine should be up and running. Seems
simple, should work, no guarantees.
