(£28) + 2 = £30.

Wrong, 9.33 x 3 = 28 (27.99 to be precise,but for the purpose of my point i
will round it up)
Their total outlay between them was 27(25 for the room and 2 for the tip)
The room itself cost them 8.33 each .The tip cost them 66 p each
(8.33 + 66 p each for the tip = 9 quid) and they each pocketed 1 quid which
was returned to them
So the total spent including tip was 27 (30 minus the returned 3) which is 9
pounds each
