In an NT class OS, (NT/2000/XP don't know Home) Printing events are
recorded in the Event Log. You have to enable this.
For XP Pro, select printer / Properties / Security / Advanced /
Auditing. Add / enter user / group. Select type of auditing.
You will also need to enable Auditing on the PC/Domain policy.
See the Help & Support files.

Good old XP.
It's 430AM here and the XP box is off, If I remember later I can try and
check.
That's up to you, there are 5 or 6 options as Success and Fail, making
up to 12 in all. You at least wanted to record printing in the Success
column.
Event Viewer logs lots of things without auditing turned on. If it's not
on a pop up box tells you what to do. It's also unusual for Auditing to
be enabled by default.
