Corrie,
I myself type in French and English, all I did is set my keyboard to "United
States international"and type the necessary accents as folowed :
Here is the way to set your computer to type French accents.
Go to start-->Control panel--> Keyboard--> Language--> Properties--> change
the Layout properties to Ėnglish (United States International), this will
prepare your keyboard and you will get the accents .
Now here how it work
Accent Aigu
Press the apostrophe key then type the vowel and let go, the
Accent Aigu will appear over the vowel you just typed, like so: é.
Accent Grave
Press the key which is to the left of the number,1 (not on the numeral pad).
Do not press the shift
key. Nothing will happen until you press the vowel to be accented and let go
(i.e. a,
e, u),. Accent grave will appear over the vowel like
so: č.
Accent Circonflexe
Type Shift-6.. Then type the vowel, .The Accent circonflexe will appear over
the vowel like so: ī.
Trėma
Press the Shift-apostrophe (what you would do to get the double quote).
Nothing will happen until. you type the vowel to be accented. The trėma will
appear over the vowel like so: ü.
Cédille
The process is the same as for Accent Aigu. Press apostrophe, then the c or
C. The c will appear with the cédille like so: ē.
Apostrophe.
Press apostrophe followed by space bar. This is the way you have to
type the apostrophe when you're in the United States-International keyboard
setup.
Brackets
Press Shift key + brackets + space bar.
Hope this will help !!!
